Papier in Venetië - 11 Mijn top 11

Inmiddels weer terug in Amsterdam, maar al uitkijkend naar een volgende bezoek, wil ik de hoogtepunten van mijn zoektocht naar papier in Venetië op een rijtje zetten. Mijn top 11, omdat dit het 11e en voorlopig laatste deel is (en omdat 11 mijn geluksgetal is ;-))

1. Rosanna Corrò/Carte, een winkeltje met prachtige handmarmers en daarmee gemaakte boekjes, dozen en tassen (zie ook deel 1 en 3 of www.cartevenezia.it)

2. Alberto Valese, de leermeester van Rosanna en specialist in de bijzondere (van oorsprong Turkse) techniek van Ebru handmarmeren. www.albertovalese-ebru.it

3. Boekhandel Aqua Alta, naar eigen zeggen "The Most Beautiful Bookshop in the World"!

4. Boekbinderij Charta in de Calle dei Faberi, waar een kunstwerk als hieronder meer dan 1000 euro kost en ik daarom alleen nog maar voor de etalage heb staan kwijlen... Om er binnen te komen moet je voor een koord wachten tot je er in wordt gelaten. www.chartaonline.com

5. Het licht en de kleur van het water. Geen gemotoriseerd verkeer behalve boten. Veel lopen en kijken, kijken, kijken...

6. Ca' Pesaro, museum van moderne en Aziatische kunst (zie ook deel 9 of capesaro.visitmuve.it)

7. Palazzo Fortuny, hedendaagse kunst (zie deel 9 of fortuny.visitmuve.it)

8. Het uitzicht over de daken van Castello en de (avond)luchten.

9. Werken van Joseph Cornell in de Peggy Guggenheim Collection (zie deel 9 of www.guggenheim-venice.it)

10. Zelf weer lekker tekenen en aquarelleren in mijn eigenhandig gebonden dagboek :-)

Meanwhile back in Amsterdam and already looking forward to a next  trip, I have made a list of the highlights of my search for paper in Venice. My top 11, because this is the 11th and last part for now (and because 11 is my lucky number ;-))

1. Rosanna Corrò/Carte, a shop with beautiful hand marbles and books, boxes and bags made with it. (see part 1 and 3 or www.cartevenezia.it)

2. Alberto Valese, the tutor of Rosanna and specialist in the remarkable (originally Turkish) technique of Ebru hand marble. www.albertovalese-ebru.it 

3. Bookshop Aqua Alta, in their own words "The Most Beautiful Bookshop in the World"!

4. Bookbinder Charta in the Calle dei Faberi, where a work of art like above costs over a 1000 euro and therefor I have only been drooling in front of the window display... To be able to enter you have to wait behind a rope to be let in. www.chartaonline.com

5. The light and the color of the water. No motorized traffic apart from boats. A lot of walking and looking, looking, looking...

8. The views over the roofs of Castello and the (evening) skies.

10. Happily drawing and doing watercolors again in my own hand bound diary. :-)

Papier in Venetië - 10 Maskers

Als papier in Venetië het thema is, dan kunnen de maskers natuurlijk niet ontbreken. Ze zijn - in Papier-maché - misschien wel het bekendste symbool van Venetië. Maskers spreken mij niet heel erg aan omdat ze zo commercieel zijn geworden maar als je goed oplet zijn er nog wel bijzondere exemplaren te vinden. Een paar voorbeelden:

If paper in Venice is the theme than mask should not be missing. They are - in paper-maché - maybe the best known symbol for Venice. They do not appeal to me very much because they're now so commercial but if you pay attention there are still some special specimens to be found. For a few examples see above. (to be continued)
